Issued on behalf of British Age Pensioner Alliance, these Fact Sheets support the 20 year story of the fight for PARITY by 540,500 UK State Pensioners.  Why should they be deprived of annual indexation of their pensions because they live in certain countries while another 565,000,living in other countries, are not ?

Fact: The Prime Minister has apologised for the 150,000 child migrants who were shipped to Australia and Canada in the 20th Century (until 1974)

Fact:
The new British High Commissioner in Australia, Baroness Amos says “ This was an absolutely shocking period in our history”

Fact:
The Leader of the Opposition has announced a party policy to enable grandparents not to be separated from their grandchildren

Fact:
UK Government policy denies annual uprating to former National Insurance contributors now living in Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and most other Commonwealth countries

Fact:
The National Insurance Fund according to official figures now stands in excess of 45,000,000,000 pounds (Yes 45 Billion)

Fact:
To provide uprating to former N.I. contributors now retired to frozen countries would have an annual cost of under 1% of this balance

Fact:
The increase in total state pension expenditure required to uprate pensions in frozen countries is about 0.7%

Solution:
In order to avoid the need for further apologies and prevent history repeating itself, uprating should be applied to all UK state pensioners.
