Letters from MPs of Various colours |
A letter from the Minister,
and another from a prospective Minister
The collection of letters here are from politicians of various colours. In the letter from Tony Blair and the one from Alistair Darling when he was in opposition, we seem to have some commitment to righting the injustice of frozen pensions.
But the one from Darling once he got into government indicates that he turned his coat.
Ministers say that mere money matters more than morality.

And another when Darling was in government
When Mr McCartney wrote this letter, he was an opposition back bencher. More recently he was the Minister for pensions.
He is now Minister Without Portfolio, and Party Chairman.

Norman - Conservative MP
Note: Mr Willetts is incorrect in assuming that the termination of the Social Security Agreement has extended the frozen pension problem. In fact, Australia terminated the agreement because the UK Government refused even to talk about abolishing the freezing regime. |
