Thank you for your email of the 8^th November regarding frozen pensions.

A new EDM has now been tabled - EDM 1001, It intends to highlight the injustice of frozen pensions without being so prescriptive about the solution. The hope is that such an EDM can be used to widen the support for the campaign beyond backbench MPs, EDM 366 will still be able to garner support alongside the new EDM.

Whilst of course there is no reason for any pensioners' groups to change the demands of their campaign or to accept a compromise, I hope you will understand that I am trying to raise the campaign's profile by tabling an EDM that would be acceptable to many more MPs.

You might also be interested to know that I intend to take up the general issue of unfairness to overseas pensioners in a meeting with Stephen Timms, the Minister for Pensions, later this month.
