ARE YOU FROZEN OR ARE YOU NOT ?

We are only entitled to
what we paid for

Some people, including politicians, think that all Frozen Pensioners around the world are fighting to get the full British State Retirement Pension. That is not so; we are only asking for our full entitlements in accordance with our individual contribution records.

The amount we can expect depends on the number of years we worked in the UK and contributed to the National Insurance Fund (NIF), We are not entitled to the full basic pension unless we contributed throughout our working lives.

All additional pensions such as the State Earnings Related Pension Scheme (SERPS) are also calculated according to contributions.

Other factors which can affect calculation of your entitlement are more complex.

Everybody gets the same pension for the same contribution, unless they decide to retire overseas, in which case their pension may be frozen, If the pension is frozen, its real value will decrease every year down to 50% or less of the purchasing power of the pension you would get in an indexed country.

for example:

Frozen Indexed
Canada USA
Japan Germany
New Zealand Philippines
